Gum control

Treatment Explanation
Healthy gums are pink in color, fit tightly around the teeth and do not bleed when brushing. During the periodic check-up we always pay special attention to your gums (the DPSI score). Problems with the gums can lead to loose teeth, so early inspection and treatment is very important.

How do we check your gums?

During the check-up we measure the space (pocket) between your tooth and the gums with a special probe (a small measuring instrument). We also check for bleeding. This measurement (DPSI score) gives a score between 0 and 4, which tells us exactly whether your gums are healthy (score 0-2) or whether there is periodontal disease (score 3-4).

Treatment plan

Does the check show that your gums are inflamed? We will then draw up a personal treatment plan. For mild infections, a dental cleaning and good instructions at home are sufficient. For more serious problems or deep pockets, we clean the gums under anesthesia to prevent further damage to the jawbone.
